Kawempe Muslim Secondary School edged Uganda Matyrs High School, Lubaga in a 1-0 victory in the finals of the USSSA Girls’ Football Kampala qualifiers at Old Kampala.
In the game that was witnessed by huge crowds, Hadija Nandago scored a stellar goal to help Kawempe defend their supremacy in girls’ football as far as Kampala is concerned.
To reach the final game of the tournament, Kawempe Muslim went past Gaddafi Integrated in a 2-0 victory.
Teen Cranes captain Shakira Nyinagahirwa scored in either half of the game to secure a well deserved personal brace as he sent her troops to the final.
While Uganda Martyrs humbled Rubaga Girls putting three goals past them to none.
Brenda Munyana, Latifah Nakasi and Shamusa Najjuma scored the three goals for Martyrs.
After the victory, Kawempe Muslim Coach Moses Nkata highlighted Diana Natukunda’s performance as one that so them win the battle.
“The performance of my goalkeeper was outstanding. Beyond making numerous saves, she saved a penalty which kept us in the game,” said Nkata.
“I believe I have a good team that can face any challenge, I have sofar defended two trophies, that is Elite and the District Cup.”
“So I have a lot of trust in my team and I believe we shall win the nationals,” he concluded.
In the nationals that will be held in Arua, Kampala will have Kawempe Muslim, Rubaga Girls, Uganda Martyrs, Gadafi Integrated and Gold Star as its reprsentatives.
