Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) football championship holders St. Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende have booked a spot in the last 16 with a game to play.
Kitende managed to register a narrow 1-0 victory against stubborn Nile High School at Green Light Stadium on Monday April 25, 2022 in the morning.
Kitende’s captain of the Yiga Najib scored with only ten minutes to play to send the defending champions to the next level of the tournament.
After seven games played, Kitende has managed five wins against Dynamic SSS (3-0), Bugangagari (7-0), Lake Side SS (4-0), Buremba (1-0) and Nile High (1-0).
They have also shared points on two occasions against Ikiki SS (1-1) in the opening game and Mpingi Mixed SS (1-1) in the third game.
In the last game of the group, Kitende will face Fort Portal who sit bottom on the log of Group A managing to collect two points from seven games.
Nile High Arua was the last side to join the group but after eight games they have collected 14 points after managing four wins, two stalemates and two losses.
The side coached by Arua Hill SC midfielder Gaddafi Wahab will pray Dynamic lose or draw in a game they are to face wounded Bugangagari.
