SMASK 1-0 Aiden College
SMASK 0-0 Abu Aisha
After scoring 15 goals on the opening day of USSSA Wakiso District football qualifiers, St Mary’s Kitende faced a rough day two. They registered a hard-fought 1-0 win against Aiden College before sharing spoils with Abu Aisha at St Joseph Kisubi Technical playground on Wednesday.
Early in the morning, Kitende was given a penalty that was converted by Hassan Mubiru in the first stanza. Aiden College improved after the break and came close through Croswell Akampa but Kitende was tight at the back.
After lunch, Kitende gaffer Daniel Male rang changes to the side that played the earlier game against Aiden. Male introduced Steven Yiga, Katongole while Fazil Tumwine led the line from the front.
Kitende showed intention right away through Yiga and Fazil but their effort went narrowly wide. Mubiru kept Abu Aisha on tiptoes with his quick foot but failed to put the ball in the back of the net.
Kitende supremo Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa was in attendance as his school struggled to execute the assignment. After two games, Kitende has 10 points. They have so far scored 16 and conceded none.
Group D is led by London College who have 12 points, and they will play their last game against a hungry Kitende. Five slots are up for grabs in the USSSA Nationals that will be played in May later this year.
