Jinja Progressive (JIPRA) edged Jinja Senior Secondary School 4-2 in spot kicks after sharing spoils in a one-all draw in normal time.
The goals were scored by James Jarieko for JIPRA and Reagan Isabirye for Jinja SS.
It was a great game that was watched by thousands as JIPRA reclaimed their bragging rights as far as Jinja District schools football is concerned.
Jarieko nodded home Richard Okello’s delivery to place JIPRA in the lead just three minutes into the game.
After a while, he nearly doubled the lead but custodian Aziz Saleh was in the perfect place to collect his effort.
As the game went on, Jinja SS grew in confidence and started to weave passes right from it’s back to the frontman hence commanding the noise from the crowd.
Their patient plays paid off as defender Isabirye equalized matters thanks to Alex Kisege’s curling corner kick.
After recess, both sides were reserved and it halted them from unlocking hence playing a tight game.
This kept the game intact till the final whistle and both sides had to be separated by efforts from 12 yards.
JIPRA beat Jinja SS and that marked the start of the crazy scenes as the fans of the losing side got chaotic.
Police sparked the scenes as they fired bullets and teargas to come the rowdy crowd.
The two teams will go onto the next level of Busoga Regional qualifiers that will take place at Bukoyo SS in Iganga District.
