USSSA Wakiso Qualifiers: Mixed Emotions As Tournament enters Semifinals

It was a busy day as eight schools emerged out of the 24 to make the quarter finals lineup.

After a poor day (II) of the championship, St Mary’s Kitende turned around tables as they thumped London College Nansana 4-0 to finish at the summit of Group D.

Abdul Nsereko opened the scoring before Hassan Mubiru, Nyarwa Olimi and Fazil Tumwine extended the lead.

At Kisubi Seminary, Kitende extended their dominance after registering a 3-0 victory against Green Light Islamic, Nansana in the quarter finals.

Mubiru gave them the lead through an indirect free kick, Ronald Madoi later nodded home, minutes to the closure of first half.

Nsereko tapped home Abubakari Walusimbi’s delivery to send Green Light back home.

Elsewhere at SMACK play ground, Buddo SS fought from a goal down to beat London College 2-1 in a tight quarter final duel.

After a board room decision, Standard High Zana was reinstalled into the last eight and they went all the way to oust St Julian in a 1-0 win.

The game between Andy Mwesigwa and Kawempe Royal was not played due to technical issues.

In the semifinals, the district defending champions, Buddo SS will face STAHIZA as Kitende await the winner between Andy Mwesigwa and Kawempe.

Five slots are up for grabs in the 2023 Nationals that will be played in May in the city of Fort Portal.
