Over 90 residents mainly from the areas of Entebbe municipality and Katabi town council were skilled in business management under the Work for Life entrepreneur training offered by Lillian Babirye the director of Babirye Care Foundation in partnership with Work for Life organisation and Katabi town council.
During the graduation ceremony held on Friday, Lillian Babirye highlighted that the training took six months at Katabi town council headquarters and it aimed at providing the basics of saving, investment, and business management to the locals.
“They have been trained on how to make a business proposal, how to market the business, saving tips, communication skills, customer care skills among others,” she said.
She also remarked that it is a continuous programme, with the next intake kicking off in January 2024. Babirye called upon all individuals including local leaders like the village councilors and the LC1 chairpersons to join the next intake in a way of transforming the community.
The Bukomansimbi woman member of parliament Veronica Nanyondo who was the guest of honour praised Babirye for the favourable collaboration with Katabi town council and promised to give a helping hand where necessary.
She also congratulated the graduates for putting in all their efforts and reminded them of the next chapter they have reached. The legislator tasked all individuals who attained the skills, to be trustworthy and to make the right choices of people they associate with to become successful entrepreneurs.
Ronald Kalema, the Katabi town council chairperson thanked all sponsors of the graduates for having stood with the students in all ways until the completion of their studies with quality entrepreneurial skills.
“With such programmes, we shall have a transformed society. I therefore, appeal to other individuals in the community to join the intake so that we can have a better nation,” he noted.
Carol Namagambo the student leader lauded the founders, funders and the teachers for the great work well-done saying, it is going to make a great impact in society.
“We have been imparted with knowledge and skills on how to handle a successful business and also trained on how to do the same business within the same location without hatred but instead to carry out a healthy competition,” she concluded.
