Wazalendo Opens Cash Branch in Singo

Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society has launched its 9th cash operating branch in Singo, Nakaseke district.

While officiating the commissioning of the branch, the first Division Commander Brigadier General Joseph Ssemwanga who represented the Commander Land Force Lt Gen Muhanga encouraged the UPDF leadership to set an example by channelling their salaries through Wazalendo SACCO so as those below them can follow suit.

Brig Gen Ssemwanga said the opening of the cash operation branch in Singo will enable members to access services conveniently and improve their welfare through accessing the different products offered by the Sacco.

The Wasacco Chief Executive Officer, Colonel Joseph Onata pledged that they can serve the members better, noting that opening up more cash branches and service delivery innovations such as Waza mobile to improve the experience of members.

Colonel Onata added that Wasacco can process salaries for the members and guard them against inconveniences in payments, queuing for services, long distances to access the services and other incurred expenses.

The Director of Operations at Wasacco, William Atalyeba noted that from the tightly opened cash operating branches in different parts of the country, there has been a visible positive difference in service delivery and income generated to the SACCO.

He added that the WSACCO leadership will explore other innovations like agency banking in areas that have a lot of members to allow them access all commercial banks to send or receive cash within and outside Uganda, including UPDF soldiers serving in missions outside Uganda like those in Somalia.

Wazalendo SACCO, where all UPDF soldiers mandatorily save, is one of the largest Saccos in Uganda with nineteen branches in various parts of the country and one in Somalia with now nine cash operating and savings branches including Bombo, Kampala, Moroto, Jinja, Gulu, Entebbe, Mubende, Mbarara and Singo.
