Ishmail Carzell Wainright is a Uganda National basketball team forward naturalized by FUBA.

The 26-year-old was born on September 12, 1994, and stands at 6 feet 5.165 inches. The American born was conceived in Kansas City Missouri and attended basketball powerhouse Montrose Christian School Rockville, Maryland, and Raytown South High School Raytown, Missouri. Wainright played two seasons at Montrose Christian School from 2012 to 2013 under the guidance of coach Stu Vetter.
While there he emerged the 28th among the ESPN top 100 basketball players for the class of 2013.
The power forward preferred to join Baylor University over juicy offers from St. Johns University, Texas University, and Ohio State University.
While at college he played for Baylor University for four years but he had never averaged more than six points in a game.

Wainright later grew in ranks and was graduated to the senior side where averaged 5.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.7 steals over 35 starts.
His strength and defensive skills helped him earn a Big-12 All defensive team honor in his senior year.
He diverted for a season to play American football at Buffalo Bills but later returned on the court due to the flowing love he had for the game.
He later moved to Germany for professional basketball where he spent two years playing for lower Bundesliga side Nuremberg before switching to SC Rasta Vechta.
Wainright earned a deal to France LNB Pro Aside SIG Strasbourg averaging 11.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
His versatile and physical game on the court earned him a lucrative move to Toronto Raptors.
Wainright’s headline grabber with the Uganda Silverbacks was the encounter against Cape Verde. He scored 36 points coupling it with 13 rebounds.
He guided the Silverbacks to qualification for the 2021 FIBA Afro Basket Championship. When Uganda went past Morroco on July 8, 2021.
The towering forward will be so instrumental as Uganda face Senegal, Cameroon, and South Sudan in the Afrobasket in Kigali.
