Uganda Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye Kityo has been asked to leave the office for the next three months.
This was an order called by the Minister of Education and Sports and also First Lady Janet Museveni.
The order was a result of a meeting held at State House Nakasero on Friday evening.
The period of three months will be used to investigate the claims and reports of the bad business that has been run by the Netball Federation.
According to New Vision, one of the major upsets at the Netball National team has been sexual harassment.
Further reports indicate that one of the national team players was accused by Babirye of having a love affair with her husband Dan Ntale.
While the other player raised her disappointment and grief reporting to the First Lady that she faced an attempt to be raped by Ntale.
The player was allegedly called to pick up a Christmas package only to leave the office with her clothes torn in pieces during a scuffle.
The other reason for the order to see Babirye out of office was the mismanagement of players’ affairs.
Players cried foul for being accommodated in poor facilities whenever they fly out to represent the country.
While part of the Rock (males’ national team) reported that their signatures were forged after the Federation claimed that they had given them allowances.
On the other hand, Babirye said the move is political and it’s all about throwing her out of office after several achievements.
Yes! Babirye requested to be pardoned and at least step out of office for two months so that she can be part of the team before the World Cup.
But the First Lady stood by her decision threatening that the country would miss out on the World Cup if she remained in office.
What’s next?
The vice president of the federation, Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso will take over office till a further hearing from the First Lady.
